Brett Whiteley’s attack on Aboriginals a poor example
Labor Leader Bryan Green said today Brett Whiteley’s divisive and insensitive remarks towards the aboriginal community were very disappointing.
“As a politician, Mr Whiteley, has no doubt acknowledged aboriginal culture at ceremonies like the opening of Parliament and public gatherings. This obviously means nothing to him.
“It is particularly poignant as we attend end of year school assemblies that students pay respect to aboriginal elders past and present.
“Mr Whiteley’s attitude is a very poor example to our younger generation and sets us back decades in regard to acknowledging and respecting Aboriginal culture.”
