TASSO Push for Resolution
The Tasmanian Association of State School Organisations (TASSO) Management Committee met this weekend, in response to calls for action from our members the following motion was unanimously carried:
That TASSO initiates discussion with the government and unions to facilitate the resolution of the current dispute.
TASSO does not agree with the suggestion from the government that “the caravan has moved on”. In relation to the cuts to teaching and support staffing in schools the government must recognise and acknowledge the responsibility it has to ensure that our schools have the necessary resources required to meet the needs of all students and staff funding should not be arbitrarily removed.
“We acknowledge the union have extended the olive branch and I implore the government to come to the negotiating table” said TASSO President Jen Eddington.
