A new Glenorchy facility is a significant addition to Tasmania’s aged care landscape.

Tasmanian Liberal Senator Stephen Parry today officially opened OneCare’s Barossa Park Lodge which will be home to 136 older people from the area.

“This is a fine example of contemporary aged care,” Senator Parry said.

“Older Australians have become more empowered when it comes to aged care and they will be the driving force behind the design and delivery of aged care services in the future.”

Senator Parry said it’s up to governments and service providers to ensure that when older Australians need aged care, they get what they need and want.

“The fact is older people are living healthier and longer lives on their own terms,” he said.

“Many people want to remain in their own home for as long as possible and the Federal Government is providing more support to help make this a reality.

“But for many, continuing to live in their own home is not an option, which is why it is so satisfying that we’re seeing residential aged care services continually lifting the bar.”
