Following on from the hugely successful visit by His Excellency President Xi and Madam Peng, and the productive TasInvest forum, we are moving quickly to capitalise on the momentum generated for our state.
Today in Sydney, along with State Growth Minister Matthew a Groom, I attended the Australia-China Leaders Forum, hosted by the New South Wales Premier Mike Baird and Prime Minister Tony Abbott. President Xi also delivered a keynote address.
I also met with representatives from Fujian Province, led by His Excellency Mr You Quan, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Fujian Provincial Committee and Chairman of Fujian People’s Congress.
On Monday, I signed a memorandum of understanding with the Fujian Province and today’s meeting further cemented our friendship as well as discussing economic opportunities in industries including agriculture, seafood, forestry and education.
There is great optimism and hope in Tasmania about the future.
This week has delivered unprecedented opportunities for Tasmania and the Liberal Government is now working very hard to turn that opportunity and interest into investment and jobs.
