
Tasmania’s Treasurer Michael Aird is under pressure to deliver on the March state election promises when he hands down his fifth budget today.
Last year the Treasurer’s fourth budget was a reactiion to a grim economic situation, after the global financial crisis punched a major hole in GST and state revenue.
This year the state’s finances are expected to be in a better position but the Government is warning Tasmanias the package will not be all good news.

It is Mr Aird’s first budget under the new Labor-Green power-sharing arrangement.
The two parties made more than a billion dollars of promises during the March election campaign.
The Treasurer has said the Government is “on the pathway” to delivering those promises.
