There was a particularly rapid response from the Anglican Church following my report listing parishes “under review” for possible church closures.
That was posted on Monday last week (HERE) – and by Tuesday the church had deleted one of the areas from the review list, those covered in the Southern Midlands South East Mission Network’s churches of St Peter’s, Oatlands, St Michael’s, Bagdad, St Michael and All Angels, Bothwell, St Mary’s, Kempton, St John the Evangelist, Lower Marshes, St James, Montacute, St Oswald’s, Tunbridge, and St Mary’s Chapel, Baden.
Did somebody say something to Tasmania’s Anglican powers that be?
But there is still need for parishioners elsewhere to remain alert, because the Franklin/Esperance Parish in the City South Network has its churches of St Luke’s, Judbury, St James’, Ranelagh, St John’s, Franklin, and St Peter’s, Geeveston, remaining “under review”. St Paul’s, Dover, was on the list but is now off.
And there’s also an addition to the review list, with the City of Devonport, of the North West Mission Network, included – St John’s, Devonport, St Olave’s, the Don, St Paul’s, East Devonport, and All Saints, Spreyton.
For our port of the ferries is seems things aren’t all plain sailing at present when it comes to its churches.
