YOU may remember being urged to nominate Gunns for the Public Eye Awards last year (a chance to name & shame those companies worldwide who are seriously lacking on social and environmental aspects).
Given this involves many, many companies and organisations globally, it’s pretty significant to even make the long list, never mind the short list to be the recipient of this dubious accolade. So the fact Gunns are named at all indicates just how many people expressed their concerns.
Well done!
The other item is an extract from a Wilderness Society update, and relates to a new group concerned about changing Tassie’s forestry practices for the better. It’s called Our Common Ground. Looks like something significant to do with this group could be happening on Wed 27th Jan. If you live in Tassie you might like to keep your diary free for this one.

An Invitation
Have you heard about Our Common Ground? This new organisation has been set up with the aim of dealing with the conflict over jobs and forest protection. The Wilderness Society is one of the founding member groups.
Our Common Ground has teamed up with Peter Cundall and GetUp! for an important campaign event. It’s all a bit hush hush at the moment, but what we can tell you is that it will be happening in Launceston next Wednesday morning (27 January).
