THE Royal Hobart Hospital will undergo a $100 million redevelopment as an alternative to a new waterfront hospital. The State Government plan includes doubling the size of the intensive care unit and a new facility for women and children. Health Minister Lara Giddings announced in May the scrapping of the $1.6 billion waterfront proposal — after three years and $9.4 million of taxpayer funds were spent on it.
