My son received a black eye on a Metro bus on his way to work early in the morning (about 6.30am) last week by some drunken thugs who also wanted his wallet and ipod. The police took them off the bus and, as they left, they threatened him with dire consequences if he took any action. The bus then left. He made a statement later that day after work but we have heard nothing more. I hope we will – surely the police officers would have taken down their names? He is beginning to think that no one cared and that there was no point in reporting anything because nothing will happen, anyway. How are our young people to have any trust in or respect for justice? My son did nothing at all to provoke this attack and went out of his way to avoid conflict – can we now not even travel on a bus to work in the morning in safety?
