Leading and Greening the way in Hobart –
McKim launches Greens’ Hobart City ticket
Tasmanian Greens State Leader Nick McKim launched the four Greens candidates
contesting the Hobart City Council local government elections in North Hobart today.
Alderman Helen Burnet is the Lead Green Candidate. Helen has been a major part of the sustainability initiatives that the City has taken up over the past four years. Helen is also contesting the Deputy Mayoral election.
“I’m excited about the potential for Greens on Council to continue progress on improving our environmental credentials as a City. There’s no better place than Hobart to combine looking after heritage and embracing the best contemporary innovations in planning, transport options, housing and community development”, Helen said today.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time on Council over the past four years, and am immensely proud of the positive impact that three Green Aldermen have been able to make in Council decision-making – and there is plenty more to do,” Helen continued.
Helen will be supported by three prominent community members – sustainability advocate and educator Corey Peterson, heritage advocate Wendy Heatley and transport campaigner Toby Rowallan.
