Mussolini, who knew a thing or two about the subject, said that the merging of corporate and political power is called fascism. The Pulp Mill Assessment Act, especially the Section 11 challenged in this case, fits that description perfectly. The PMAA is legislation written by a company (they have never denied it), tweaked into shape by a complicit public service and rubber stamped by a captured and criminal polity. Those reactionaries who might impolitely demur might ask themselves how a company might best generate a piece of obscenely advantageous legislation except by writing it themselves.
