VANESSA GOODWIN
Liberal candidate for Pembroke Dr Vanessa Goodwin said today the response to her Petition calling for an urgent review of the bus timetabling changes on the Eastern Shore had been absolutely overwhelming.
“Over the last couple of weeks I have collected approximately 500 signatures which demonstrates the level of community concern over these changes,” Vanessa Goodwin said.
“This just shows how out of touch our limousine driven State Government Ministers are when it comes to the issue of Eastern Shore public transport.”
“I am hopeful that this Petition will send a clear message to the State Government that people on the Eastern Shore are not happy with the timetable changes, that they are disappointed about the lack of consultation and that they want an urgent review.”
“During my doorknocking and over the phone many Eastern Shore residents have raised with me their concerns at the changes to local Metro timetables that is impacting on their day to day lives.”
“Whether it is people travelling to work or school, or going about their normal routinethe timetable changes are causing great inconvenience and frustration.”
“For example people are arriving late to work due to the changes to the bus timetable or having to give up their volunteer work altogether as the buses no longer travel via their workplace. The loss of the doorstopper service is of particular concern to elderly people”.
“Locals do not feel that they have been properly consulted about the changes and they do not understand why the changes have been made.”
“Given the very strong level of community concern demonstrated by those who have signed the Petition I am increasingly confident that the State Government will be forced to listen to their concerns and ensure that an urgent review is undertaken.”
