CHARLES and CLAIRE GILMOUR
Oh what hypocrites and forestry fools Bob Gordon and Daniel Hulme are …

They talk about the ‘biggest’, ‘tallest’ trees; ‘a true recognition of the importance of our state’s forest giants to the entire community’; ‘future generations’; ‘the importance of this living culture’; but continue to allow the cutting down of the next generation of tallest flowering plants on earth.
Come to the Far northwest Tasmania, the land of tayatea (giant fresh water crayfish) the forest industry just cuts them down or blows the type of trees they talk about as being our heritage, up, up here… and else where.
We’ve got a bigger (in diameter) tree in our back yard than that! And we wouldn’t let Forestry Tasmania within a bull’s roar of it. We’ve seen and can show people the stumps of trees like they suggest they save and protect.
One really has to wonder just how stupid Forestry and Labor take people for. You blokes are an embarrassment to environmental heritage in Tasmania…. on a world class scale. Many thousands of such trees, (and the rare and endangered wildlife they harbor) that future generations could potentially call the biggest, tallest … have been killed, woodchipped, burnt, blown up to supply the likes of their mate … short change the public and future generations … Gunns the woodchipping giant.
No amount of labor/forestry spin doctoring is going to save a natural heritage. They have had 11 continuous clearfell years to prove their failure at that.
