This picture is the architect’s impression taken from the plan that’s just been posted on the HCC website. Objections and comments close on 7 August 2009. Jeez, it’s f**king ugly. Is this really what you get for $300,000?

Look for ‘Sandy Bay Point, Public Art Sculpture’

“This application, proposes a public art commission in the form of a sculpture on the River Derwent foreshore at Sandy Bay Point adjacent to the Regatta Pavilion on land currently used as public open space.

The sculpture is cylindrical in form, 10 metres high and 1.5 metres in diameter. It would be constructed predominantly from metal tubes on a panelled plinth and would be internally lit by four lights.”

Oh and the Hobart City Council locks the pdf documents, meaning you cannot print them…
