RUSSELL LANGFIELD

As your website states that your company is “A Leader in Sustainable Forest & Environmental Management,” I am writing to you to inform or ask of the illegal logging (for the collection of firewood for commercial sale) of a registered Tasmanian State Conservation Reserve on a property owned by Gunns Ltd. known as Armitstead which borders the Mersey River in Kimberley.

Were/are you aware of it happening? Do you condone or allow such commercial enterprises to exist and operate using timber in a registered Conservation Reserve on your property?

I would be extremely surprised to learn that you knew nothing of it as there are some of your own employees, and also those in the employ of Forestry Tasmania, living on and around this property who would be just as aware of these goings on as I and other neighbours are.

I believe one lot was apprehended and before the courts last year but it seems this hasn’t curbed the continued committing of the crimes.

I would have thought in the very least that Gunns Ltd. or Forestry Tasmania would be responsible for having to supply and erect signs and fences around the Conservation Reserve to protect it, but there are none.

I hope you give this issue your full and most urgent attention as I would like to have an answer within the next 7 days of this email being sent, stating what action you will be taking to stop this practice and preventing it from re-occurring.

Thankyou,
Russell Langfield.
