And,

This is about Israel, not anti-semitism
Ken Livingstone, Friday March 4, 2005

Racism is a uniquely reactionary ideology, used to justify the greatest crimes in history – the slave trade, the extermination of all original inhabitants of the Caribbean, the elimination of every native inhabitant of Tasmania, apartheid. The Holocaust was the ultimate, “industrialised” expression of racist barbarity.

Vested interest combined with fundamental opinion will always be intolerant of dissent and difference.

The vested interest of the pro Israel lobby combined with fundamental opinion of orthodox Jews and Christians has seen immoral and illegal treatment including murder of Palestinians and their supporters by the state of Israel.

Office seekers may need to pander to sectoral interests, a failure that could be our undoing, but people who do not need their approval or support can see the causes of injustice and whilst they may not approve of the violence of either side that flows from that injustice they can see that respect from those holding the power is needed if a path to peace is to be found.

The moralists have persecuted homosexuals through the ages and still they are with us. Perhaps it is time to allow them a lifestyle and to move on to issues of survival.

If, as some argue, 10% of humans are oriented to homosexuality then 30 million US citizens, 2 million Australians and 630 million persons need to be respected.
