The annual Latin American Film Festival will have as special guest on the opening night the ambassador of Uruguay-South America, Mr Ricardo Varela.

The festival is returning to Tasmania this year, showcasing some of the biggest Latin films in an exciting and important Latin American cultural event.

The opening night in Hobart will showcase a film from Uruguay, which has received global recognition in the United States, Cuba and Uruguay. The night will start at 6:00pm, with drinks, finger food and music, followed by a 7pm screening of “The Promenaders”, “Rambleras” .

Organised by the Latin American Embassies in Canberra, the festival will be held in Hobart from 22 to 30 September at the Stanley Burbury Theatre at the University of Tasmania.

The film festival is open to the public and the entire program is FREE of charge. All films will be subtitled in English.

The countries represented in this festival include Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
