At just 19 years of age Harrison Craig won The Voice 2017 and now three albums later, the latest a tribute to the kings of Vegas, which Harrison will tour nationally in his ‘Kings of Vegas the lounge sessions’. Tassie will be able to see Harrison this month perform hits from Bennett to Buble. With Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior and Nat King Cole among others canvassed on the album.

When we chat, Harrison tells me what began as ‘a gloomy morning has become glorious. Harrison is of course talking about the weather but those that are familiar with his music know that his comments could easily be a metaphor for his ability to make us feel good whatever the weather, with his unique renditions of classic songs as well as his own self-penned ones.

Harrisons experience on The Voice has helped develop him into a confident singer and he credits Chong Lim, his producer for helping him evolve as a performer by telling him ‘exactly how it is’ without any sugar coating.

In his earlier years Harrison had difficulties with a stutter, the experience has encouraged him in his latest project to write a picture book for children called ‘Harrison’s song’. It is hoped it will help prevent bullying and encourage children to know they can achieve their dreams and overcome any obstacles.

Harrison is looking forward to visiting Tasmania and tells me he has happy memories of Hobart and visiting the Cadbury factory. He also tells me that he recently had a friend move to Hobart and how this friend ‘gushed over what a beautiful place it is, with a wealth of natural beauty hard to find anywhere else’.

Harrison maybe showcasing the Kings of Vegas, but one could say in Harrison himself, we have a true prince of music.
