The TSO announces that the largest masterclass event ever undertaken by the orchestra will take place in Launceston on Saturday, 14 April. Selected students aged 25 and under from the North and Northwest of Tasmania will have the opportunity to participate in 16 individual masterclasses, each lead by a world-class musician from the TSO, with up to 6 participants per class.

Masterclasses will be available for all orchestral instruments, including Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Timpani, Percussion, Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass.

The masterclasses will be held on Saturday, April 14 at venue partner Scotch Oakburn College Performing Arts Centre, Newstead between 2pm and 3.30pm. Interested students are encouraged to apply; application is via the TSO website and closes Friday, 16 March 2018. Participation is $15.00 for students. Observers are welcome to attend with tickets available for $5.00.

The TSO provides a full program of educational events and activities across Tasmania throughout the year; this unique opportunity for aspiring musicians from the North and Northwest of Tasmania to benefit from an individual, face-to-face tuition experience will follow a side-by-side collaborative rehearsal with members of the Launceston Philharmonic Orchestra, with TSO musicians rehearsing material for an upcoming LPO concert.
