The clan Gordon were one of the greatest in Scotland.

Gord Bamford may not be Scottish but he has a great clan of his own that stretches from Canada to Australia. Until he was five, Gord lived in Australia before moving to Canada with his mum.

He was delighted when his successful Canadian music career allowed him to return to Australia, a place he felt an instant affinity with,to perform.

As Gord says Australian audiences ‘know how to have a good time’ and ‘they love their beer, music and down home lifestyle which is everything I am’. Gord is also one of the most successful traditional country music singers in Canada and to put it in perspective Gord tells me he is Canada’s version of Lee Kernaghan. Returning to Australia had the added advantage that he is able to catch up with his dad the rest of the family.

In March, Gord will tour Australia, including Tasmania, to launch his‘Neon Smoke’ his eighth Canadian album and the second release in Australia. The first single ’livin’ on summertime’ made it to the Canadian top 10 music charts.

When I spoke to Gord recently he reflected on last year’s tour of Australia and his impressions of Tasmania, where he toured with Tasmania’s own Wolfe Brothers. He concluded Tasmania was ‘awesome’ and that he ‘loved it’ and its ‘beautiful landscape and rolling hills.’

Gord will tour with his full band and Australian artist Kevin Bennett appearing 25 March 2018 at the Longley International Hotel.
