The Meli Melo Choir will present an entertaining Christmas concert at 2.30pm on Saturday, December 9th in St. John’s church, Bowden Street, Glenorchy.
The varied concert features Alpine and French Horn ensembles, choral, carol sing-a-long and solo performances. Come along and enjoy an afternoon of Christmas music, while at the same time supporting the Don Bosco Technical School, Biratnagar, Nepal. Entry is by donation and includes light refreshments.
The Choir have been co-operating with St John’s church for the last few years: the church provides the venue and afternoon tea, the choir organizes the entertainment.
St. John’s International group is committed to supporting the Salesians, a religious order working in Nepal. Their director, Fr. Augusty, has identified the need for financial support for students attending the Technical School in Biratnagar. The funds raised by the Glenorchy group go towards providing sponsorships for needy students undertaking courses in the construction and tourism/hospitality industries.
Spokesperson for St John’s, Jo Elliott, said, “Their gratitude for the little we can offer is truly humbling.”
