Thanks to all the contributors to this string; some excellent information, commentary, and debate.
I am a bit disappointed not to have reached a century (of comments) but I guess there is still time!
What would have been interesting is some sort of contribution from the groups which have been trying to negotiate a solution through the “inter governmental agreement” process. I would have thought a string entitled “a forest solution” on a frequently read blog would have stimulated at least one comment from each of the parties involved. Actually I think that is not a good look for any of the groups involved.
Respectful, informed debate on a public forum surely could not sabotage the process of finding a solution, or am I wrong about this?

Hope you get your century, Frank, but I think it’s time to stop pretending there can be any meaningful debate with an industry whose objective is fixed on a zero-sum victory by any means.

The only means that would accomplish an end to these ‘World’s Best Practiced’ and propagated forestry wars, would be to shut down the funduing to the nursery that breeds this mutant Ancient Forest destroying mental virus that flourishes here.
What with their legion of camp-followers and FIAT merceneries aiding in almost a religious war between the extremist self-rightious destructors, verses the wiser warriors and champions of the State’s environmental responsible soldiers, this war will persist until we lose every one of our responsible soldiers.
One of the major mercenery’s that keeps bellowing its war-cries and tauntings, is the frequent-engaged Forestry Tasmanian State forestry minister Bryan Green, who also happens to possess a master key to the State’s revenue bunkers.
Until that merecenery person is bound and shackled then removed of his key this war of the forests will e’er continue.
Bryan Green as Minister of Forests seemingly has the keys to the Treasury.
