Bill Shorten has spectacularly hung Rebecca White out to dry on GST this morning.
While Ms White launched an all-out attack on Tasmania getting an additional $112 million in GST under the Federal Government’s proposal, Mr Shorten would not rule out supporting it.
Instead, Mr Shorten scuttled out of the state this morning, claiming he hadn’t yet formed an opinion on the proposal while his Shadow Treasurer has said Federal Labor will consider the proposal as “any responsible alternative government should”.
It’s clear that the relationship between Mr Shorten and Ms White has broken down.
Did Ms White even speak to Mr Shorten before opposing an additional $112 million for Tasmania this morning?
Ms White must be the only Labor leader in the country today arguing for her state to get less GST, not more.
