The Tasmanian Greens are holding a north-west fundraiser to assist in the statewide efforts to boost aid to those affected by the recent January bushfires.

Greens Emergency Services spokesperson Paul O’Halloran MP said that members of the public in the north were also wanting to do their bit, and to how their appreciation for the huge ongoing effort by firefighters and other organisations around the state.

“Naturally there has been significant focus on the devastating bushfire impact on the Tasman Peninsula and around Ellendale, but the Montumana fire has also brought home to many in the north the harsh reality that we can all be affected,” Mr O’Halloran said.

“There is enormous recognition across the community of the huge efforts undertaken by firefighters and volunteers to help fight the fires, as well as the hard yakka still ahead to assist rebuilding homes, livelihoods and communities.”

“We are seeing many local groups and organisations around the state hold their own fun ways of acknowledging that effort by holding fundraisers, and this fundraiser is one opportunity for those in the north west wanting to join in and do their bit.”

“On behalf of the Greens I must also thank the Ulverstone Surf Club who is donating the cost of their venue and proceeds from the bar on the night, to the fundraiser effort.”

All proceeds from the Greens’ hosted Tasmanian Bushfire Fundraiser will go to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.
