Residents in the Huon Valley region will now have instant access to the latest health
developments and initiatives available in their local area, thanks to the newly launched
Huon Valley Health and Wellbeing website.

The website contains a range of useful services for Huon residents looking to improve their
health and wellbeing, including:

• an online forum for service providers to share ideas, knowledge and resources;
• an e-newsletter for service providers along with a printed version distributed to
community members; and
• a central database to promote upcoming coming events and programs in the region.
Huon Valley Health and Wellbeing Coordinator Alison Eastland said the website was a
welcome resource for the nearly 16,000 people who call the Huon Valley home.

“The website has been great for promoting participation and interaction within the
community, as organisations or businesses can upload their coming events or projects and
really connect with the people around them,” Mrs Eastland said.

“The partnership of online access centres in each area of the Valley will also assist
community members in accessing information if they do not have online access at home or
are hesitant about using the internet.”

CEO of community-based, not-for-profit health, community and aged care organisation
Huon Eldercare, Barry Lange, said the website was a valuable resource for the Huon Valley
community.

“Having such a simple, useful and community-specific online tool for our staff at Huon
Eldercare will make their lives a lot easier,” Mr Lange said.

“With the click of a button they’ll be able to see what activities, programs and events are
occurring in the area, which will help them deliver high-quality services to our residents.”
