Federal Liberals fail to come to the party on tourism investment
No funding for Cradle Mountain Master Plan
Sector needs government support to maintain growth
Tasmania’s tourism sector has been badly let down by a Federal Budget that hasn’t recognised the need to support growth.
Shadow Tourism Minister Scott Bacon said it’s a missed opportunity.
“The Turnbull Government could have backed any number of great tourism opportunities in Tasmania,” Mr Bacon said.
“The Cradle Mountain Master Plan is at the top of the list.
“It’s a project committed to by both sides of state politics and Labor at a federal level, but it’s been ignored by the Turnbull Government.
“If our tourism sector is going to keep growing, it needs support from all levels of government.
“What’s Will Hodgman been doing, as the Tourism Minister, to make sure Tasmanian projects are on the radar of his Federal colleagues?
“The Premier should be embarrassed by what’s been offered to Tasmanian tourism in the Budget.”
