It’s always a joy to catch up for a chat with that iconic boy from the bush Lee Kernaghan.

Welcoming and down to earth with true humility, Lee makes you feel as comfortable as an old friend. It’s especially wonderful to catch up with Lee this year on the occasion of celebrating his 25th anniversary as a musician. Celebrations will continue by way of a year long tour and a special 25th anniversary album in which Lee has teamed up with many of his musician friends who have impacted on his career, including Tassie’s very own Wolfe Brothers, John Williamson, Troy Cassar-Daley, James Blundell, Adam Brand, The Mclymonts and Lee’s wife Robby who does a remake of ‘High Country’ with Lee.

After selling more than two million album, 34 number one singles, four ARIA Awards, an inductee in the CMC Hall of fame and being awarded Australian of the Year, the accomplishments go on but Lee still cherishes the album where it all began because it ‘kicked down doors’ for him, and of his latter material the pinnacle being ‘The Spirit of the ANZACS’ album.

Before becoming a musician Lee had settled on a career in real estate and considered law but with a family steeped in music there wasn’t much chance of Lee not joining the family business with his dad, brother and two sisters Fiona and Tanya.

As well as to his family, Lee is grateful for the all the people across the land he’s met in his travels and who continue to be inspiration for his music such as ‘the ute owner with a goat on board’.

Lee is a big believer in tapping into creativity and recommends the book ‘The Artists Way’ which suggests writing three pages of writing a day as an approach to creativity. That approach exceeded the three pages when Lee recently wrote his autobiography, demonstrating another skill, this time as author.
