The annual Latin American Film Festival is coming back to Tasmania, showcasing some of the biggest Latin films in an exciting and important cultural event for the Latin American community.

Organised by the Latin American Embassies in Canberra, the festival will be held in Hobart from August 19 to 28 at the Stanley Burbury Theatre at the University of Tasmania.

The film festival is open to the public and the entire program is free of charge. All films will be subtitled in English.

The countries represented in this festival include Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador and Guatemala.

Opening night in Hobart will showcase a film which has received global recognition in Canada, the United States and Germany. The night will start from 6:30pm, with drinks, traditional food and music, followed by a 7pm screening of The Crow’s Nest, from El Salvador.

We wish to thank the kind generosity of the UTAS Community Friends and Networks Programme who are also sponsoring this event in Hobart by providing a venue and also to the Hobart City Council for their financial support.
