    Guests are invited to adjourn for Readings by the Guest Poets of the 2003 Poetry Festival.  Featuring an Open Mike session for Launceston’s poets to share their work.

    Festival Founder and eminent Poet Tim Thorne launches his latest chapbook Thorne’s Best Bitter; Liz Winfield launches her latest chapbook Catalogue of Love, published by Walleah Press

    Visiting Poet Ignatius McGovern will warm up the audience for the Poetry Cup with his humourous Irish verse

    8.30 It’s on!  The seminal event of the Festival, now in its 20th year, the Launceston Poetry Cup throws open the challenge to any willing poet: if you can generate the loudest audience response in under a minute with your poem, the silverware is yours.  Open to everyone and anyone!  It’s loud, it’s contagious, it’s the most fun you’ll ever have in verse.

    WORDS DY DESIGN

    The Design Centre of Tasmania, Tamar Street

    Guest Poets will read from their work with the work of artists and designers from Tasmania and around Australia as their backdrop. 

    Featuring the draw of the famous Poetry Festival Raffle.
