Thanks for a good article Mr Hadfield.
I don’t doubt for a second that players and coaches in ‘the good old days’ would be equally as ruthless in finding and using new and improved methods of training and skills enhancement.
However, I do question with great vigour the externalisation of success and failure through the inference that things like half time IV drips and low altitude flying are contributory to the result of the game.
I quite liked your comment that “nostalgia is one of the most powerful drugs in the universe...But be careful, it can also be an hallucinogenic one.” - it is one of the better quotes I have seen here in some time. However I would point out that as a product of the 80s, I haven’t developed a strong sense of nostalgia just yet.
