The Tasmanian Greens today expressed disappointment that the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) has decided to not invite the Greens to participate in the ACL Leaders debate to be held tomorrow.
Greens Leader Nick McKim MP said that many committed Christians voted Green as so many of the Party’s policy positions align closely with their religious beliefs.
“It is disappointing that the ACL has made the decision to not invite the Greens to participate in their Leaders Debate, as by doing so they have denied their members the opportunity to hear articulated policies which align closely with their values and beliefs,” Mr McKim said.
“The Greens platform is one of environmental sustainability, caring for community and looking after people who are struggling, all of which align closely with Christian values, and we believe those voters should have the right to hear about these policies and to ask questions about them at the Leaders Debate. Unfortunately they will not have that opportunity.”
