7HOFM Program Director Mr John Inglis:
“It’s been a fantastic ride and I would like to sincerely thank all of you I have met over the years. 7HOFM has been great fun and the buzz of a station moving forward is still a fantastic feeling. That said, I look forward to leaving the Ugg boots behind and moving to North Queensland to spend more time with my beautiful wife Nancy , two adorable girls Chiara and Tamika, and chase a dream in The Force.
Thanks again for the ride ”

1. Where and when did radio begin for you?
I started out in Innisfail as the night announcer in 1985. There were three applicants and Steve Cox (my first PD) told me I got the gig because my resume looked nicer than the other two. When I got there I found out the Manager didn’t know he had hired me!
The First day I arrived, it was drinks at pub with the PD, then on air from 7pm. He listened to a couple of breaks and then left because he had to play indoor cricket.
2. Tell us about your radio training?
The Best training I had was on the job – working with great people. Dan Bradley was the best teacher I ever had as a Group PD – he was the best and is the best on Australia. Ian Keenan taught me how to smile on air and have fun.
3. What roles have you had since your debut?
Night Announcer (4ZK)
Night Announcer (5RM)
Afternoon announcer (5RM)
Mid Dawn Announcer (4BK/ B105)
Jukebox Host, Saturday night and Mid dawns (4KQ)
Nights (4TO)
Drive (4TO)
Mornings (4TO)
Program Director (4MK) (first PD gig – loved it)
Program Director (Hot 100 Darwin)
Music Director/Drive (Mix FM Sunshine Coast)
Program Director/Music Director (2CS)
Heritage Stream Program Director (DMG Radio)
Operations Manager (5AA/DMG Radio)
Station Manager (ABC South West)
Program Director (7HOFM/Tasmanian Broadcasters)
4. What has been the most rewarding radio gig?
Most recently – Working at 7HOFM and seeing the massive changes & growth happening both on-air and around the station.
Of all time – As Group PD – Heritage Stream DMG Radio and working with great mentors: Eriks Clemens, Dean Buchanan, and
Dan Bradley
5. Share a memorable radio highlight or anecdote:
Survey wins for Townsville and Cairns, best time I ever had. The worst was having to fire a good friend
6. Tell us a bit about the birth of your dream to join Police force
When I was at 5AA in Adelaide, there was a police officer who came in for his weekly chat. We got to talking and the dream was born.
7. Why did you choose Townsville?
We chose Townsville because Nancy and I love the place and to the girls it still feels like home. As a family it’s where we want to spend the rest of our days
8. When can we expect to see Constable Inglis in action?
Hopefully I’ll be on the streets in early March! I still need to past everything and master the Castle hill run!
9. Finally, I believe there are a few people you’d like to thank ……
Ian Keenan, Dan Bradley, Sean Ryan, Scoppo, Paddy Gerard, Richard Moore, Wade Kingsley, Kyle Sandilands (Captain), Blair Sullivan, David Rogerson, Paul Thompson for his vision, Grant Broadcasters, Dave Charles, Jocks Journal (Greg you do a great job keep up the good stuff), Jared Henningsen and every announcer I have worked with you all rock and don’t you love radio!
